Name: Cooper Riley Longbottom
Age: 15
Gender: Female
House: Gryffindor
Parents: Nevillle and Ginny Longbottom
Personality: Bouncy. Cheerful. Loud. For anyone with an ounce of propriety, Cooper is their worst nightmare. Her optimism and love of life is boundless; she wants to share everything that has ever happened to her with everyone else on the planet. She adores a challenge, if it's physical or social - she detests being cooped up indoors, or stuck sitting in class. Spontaneity and unpredictability are key features of her personality; eager, enthusiastic and not in the least reticent towards most things in life, she can keep hold of her optimism, even in the worst of situations. A genuinely caring person, Coop worries a lot for other people, although she is by no means much of a listener - talkative, bubbly, and always upbeat, her idea of being worried is smiling less.
Although it seems as though she is constantly happy, everyone has their moments of doubt; for Coope, there is always a niggling worry that she might never find someone as outspoken as she, nor someone with the same joie de vivre. This is as close as the amiable girl has ever been to alienation; although she is friendly with a lot of people, not many are tolerant of her rather annoying chatter and unending enthusiasm. At rare times, this can leave her feeling a little wistful, but nothing more than that. She clings to the hope that she will make a "bestest ever friend" with the same interests as she. A bit of a dreamer, she lives in her own little world where nothing bad happens; her overall personality can give one the impression that she is nothing more than a ditz, but far from it. Although she is not academically gifted, she makes a reliable and generally fun friend - but usually, she doesn't have much of a serious side, and it can wear on the nerves of those around her.
Perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of her personality is the tendency to have every emotion she's feeling show on her face; Coop wears her heart on her sleeve, incredibly so. If someone insults her, she tends to look briefly confused, and then adopts an entirely genuine hurt expression, like a puppy dog someone just kicked. However, this open emotive display explains her constant smile. For Coop, life really is all sunshine and laughter - for the most part.
Appearance: Somewhat vertically-challenged, Coop stands at five foot three, with a slim figure from her constant activity. Her skin tone is fair, bordering on excruciatingly pale, with a few freckles scattered over her cheeks and the bridge of her nose, and tends to burn easily in summer. Her hair is a simple shade of medium brown, though after enough exposure to sunlight, can lighten in places; it falls in loose curls to her shoulders, always a little messy, rather like Coop herself. Her face is delicate, wide hazel eyes dominating the fragile features, thickly lashed and always bright and alert; her nose is a little snub, rather childlike, as are the dimples that appear when her full lips smile - which is almost constantly - but this pixie-like appearance is balanced with sharp, pronounced cheekbones, and delicate, feline jaw. In her free time, Coop dresses as a muggle. A pair of slightly ill-fitting, tattered jeans, with battered red trainers and brightly coloured T-shirts, she tends to stand a little apart from the crowd. Her ears are pierced, her left twice, and she has a preference for silver hoops, or multi-coloured studs. Her style is somewhat different, but the overall effect often gives the viewer the feeling that her appearance is something of an after thought.
History: Cooper was born to Neville and Luna Longbottom on April 4th, 2017. The Burrow was not the richest place in the world to live, but that didn't mean that it wasn't tightly-knit together and a warm enviroment overall. Shortly after her birth, Cooper and her parents moved to Oxford, a city northwest of London, far away from the welcoming Burrow she'd been born in. The family lived in a small, thatched roof cottage, in a little rural area called Hamilton. Her father worked in the Ministry of Magic in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement; Neville was the Assistant Head of the Department, given to him from his outstanding work as an Auror in the past.
Cooper was born the eldest child of the two, as well as the most fragile yet active of the children. She was brought into a home that consisted of those who loved each other, and she never experienced the feelings of hatred. This tended to make her sheltered from the hardships in life, and it hadn’t really made her ready for her first year either. She never got much during her childhood, considering they were not incrediably wealthy, but she soon learned that there were much more important things then money. They spent their money where it was needed, such as for the essentials being food and shelter.
Her cousins had always been protective over what she did when she was a child, most still not accepting that she has grown up to this day. During their childhood, she was not allowed to play Quidditch. This only drove her to break their rules, and began to love causing mischief. Starting at the young age of 6, she began to break into the broom shed and take each broom out in turn when her cousins didn’t happen to be looking. Till this day they still don’t know about it, and she is in no way going to be telling them either.
She looked up to all the boys during that time, being that they were older and ‘wiser’ then her, as they liked to say. Looking back, she truly doesn’t understand how she had even thought something of the sort. She wanted to be like them in every way they allowed her, and that meant she was to act like a boy. She wore pants instead of skirts when she was young, even with her mother frequently asking her to simply try this and that on. If she went near make up, her cousins would tell her to ‘stop acting like such a girl’. She grew accustom to acting and living like just one of the boys would.
On her 11th birthday, it was no surprise she received her acceptance letter from Hogwarts. She knew without a doubt that she would be accepted, all her other brothers having already been as well. She was excited to finally be able to get more responsibility, and it did help that the Potter girl would be there as well. Since her parents had introduced the girl to Coop when she was younger, she had grown fond of her as the older sister she never had. And had quickly fallen for someone else she'd been introduced to. The Malfoy Heir- the only son of Draco and Hermione Malfoy. At the time she would have thought it to be love, yet now knows it only to have been a silly little crush. It was around the time she was smitten with the boy, she hit puberty. She finally realized that most girls her age weren’t rolling around in the mud, but having nice tea parties together.
She finally could care less about what her cousins thought, and didn't even care what they said when she did begin to wear skirts. It didn’t take long, only a few weeks of completely ignoring the poor girl, until they realized it was fine if she acted like most girls should. The elder of the boys approved of her changes far before any of the younger ones did, but they finally came around. She was excited to finally be joining most of the boys at school, seeing how the last few years had been dreadfully lonely for her.
Although she had never been away from home for such a length of time, Cooper didn't suffer from homesickness once. She found Hogwarts to be the most exciting thing to happen to her; for the first two years spent at the Castle, she even found the classes interesting. However, the novelty of magic soon wore off, until the girl was left with her buoyant enthusiasm and love of the outdoors, and not much to do with it. No one she met at Hogwarts during the past four years has shared her unusual nature. Every summer she returns to Hamilton, but for the sake of costs, she stays at Hogwarts for the other holidays. Christmas is, perhaps, the most lonely time for Coop, since so few other students - especially her family - spend their holidays at the school. Her favourite lessons are Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology, since both are outside the castle, but she also adores Defense Against the Dark Arts, since it is the most practical class spent inside. She has not, and never did, care for Potions Class; the professor's vendetta against all those who weren't in Slytherin was always agonizing, and Coop couldn't stand the accuracy and concentration the class itself required.
Wand: A delicate cherrywood wand. It is seven and three quarters inches long. It has a core of phoenix tailfeather.
Sample RP: 'Blast it,' Cooper thought slamming her History of Magic textbook shut. She hated the subject. It was pointless and stupid. It was one of the main subjects that Cooper totally sucked at, and anything that professor said went right through one ear and out of the other.
The brunette buried her head in her arms and slumped herself on a deck in the school library, some subjects she aced but ones like these was a great struggle for Coop she didn’t even understand why she was taking it at all. After all she knew she was going to fail.
Cooper looked around, and was surprised that more people weren’t in the library. It was blowing a gale outside and no one in there right mind out be out there, except maybe a crazy person who was usually out when no one else was. Usually Cooper would have gone out there just to see them, but today it was more than just raining, she really didn’t want to…die.
'Exams are coming,' a voice in Cooper's mind whispered. It, almost, sounded like a warning but Cooper knew it was a taunt.
“Shut up,” she said aloud, quietly ignoring the voice and trying to take a stab at the book again looking as stressed as the the most stressed person ever to walk this stressed earth stressed.
Anything else?: Nope
