Alora accended the stairs to the Owlery quietly. She needed to send a letter, though that was only half of the reason why she hoped that Sabriel hadn't died.
Sabriel was her owl. Her might have died last week, though, when she was trying to send a letter and accidently puched him out of the window. She had left straight afterwards, but had been haunted by guilt all week. It wasn't her fault that nearly all of her pets had dissapeared from her life- or was it?
Alora made a mental list of all the animalls that she'd ever owned, and what had happened to them. 1st, Dog the dog- run away. 2nd Shelly the turtle- run away. 3rd, Alli the mouse- run away. 4th- Golly the goldfish- accidently got fushed down the toilet. 5th, Gerald the hamster- run away. She stopped there, finally realising that all of her pets had either run away or accidently gotten killed by her. Fortunately, Alora had too many animals to miss them for more then a short week afterwards, but she could tell that if Sabriel died, then she'd be REALLY unhappy.
Now, about the letter. Alora wrote to her parents every week, and her mum and dad would be kinda worried if they hadn't gotten a letter from her for two weeks. She supposed that SAbriel hadn't delivered last week's letter, seeing as she hadn't gotten a reply. But it could just be that her father was busy with all this 'Prophecy of the Nine' buisness, and her mother being forgetful again.
That was one thing that puzzled Alora. The 'Prophecy of the Nine', as they called it. It stated that here would be a new evil, and nine teenagers would defeat it. It also staated that the children would argue with each other, and would need help so they could bind together and defeat the evil. The evil bit worried her, but it was the nine teenagers that confused her. There were zillions of teens who would fit those decisions, and how would people know which one?
Alora shrugged it off and sighed. She always got confused. It wasn't exactly her fault. Things just confused her sometimes. She entered the owlery and looked around for her owl, smiling sheepishly.
